Today we left Washington DC and hit the road to go to Myrtle
Beach in South Carolina. We watched movies on the bus (Mamma Mia and Avatar)
and listened to music. Some of us enjoyed the first movie more than the second,
because we could sing along to the amazing songs, but my buddy Sofie and I
didn’t really want to watch Avatar, so we just slept. It was an 8-hour drive,
and we drove through Virginia and North Carolina. We stopped for lunch, and
most of us went to Wendy’s. It was pouring rain when we stopped, so we were all
soaked when we got on the bus. After a few hours we stopped again at a gas
station, and when I stepped inside, I could definitely see that we were no
longer in New York or Washington, but we had reached the south. It was really
interesting and fascinating to see the differences.
After 8 hours in the bus we finally arrived at Myrtle Beach.
It was very hot and humid, so we took a walk down the beach, and some of us
were really excited because it was our first time to touch the Atlantic Ocean.
We “played” with the ocean and got a little bit wet (some more than others).
After that we drove to a restaurant called Golden Corral where we had dinner.
It was a buffet so we were all stuffed when we arrived at the hotel, since we ate
whatever was in there. Some of us especially enjoyed the desserts like
chocolate covered strawberries and cotton candy. When we had situated ourselves
in the hotel we had free time. Some people hung out by the pool, some worked
out, and others stayed in their rooms and played cards.
